This week the Rotary Club of Washington, D.C., held our Club Assembly.
President Nancy Riker opened the Club Assembly at 12:30 p.m. She welcomed participants. She welcomed visitors and visiting Rotarians; visitors introduced themselves.
President Nancy played a video of Auld Lang Syne, which means saying farewell to the old year and greeting the new year. This poem was written by the National Poet of Scotland, Robert Burns, and has been sung by the club the first meeting in January as long as Nancy has been a member.
Sergeant-at-Arms BobSchott announced birthdays and anniversaries for the week.
President Nancy then gave remarks:
Today we are celebrating the progress we've made this Rotary year as a result of the energy, commitment, and dedication of our committee chairs and club leadership.
Welcome to our new Club Administrator, Kathy Lynch. Her bio and photo will appear in Friday's Progress Newsletter. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Financial Update: We are in the black. Dues are barely covering expenses. 3rd quarter dues payable by Jan 8. Prepaid meals not only holds our place at the University Club but provides resources for outreach, fellowship, member support, marketing, Rotaract and Interact support, and other Rotary benefits.
Strategic Plan Update: As most of you know, last April the Board launched a Strategic Planning Committee under the leadership of Steve Liston. The Committee continues the hard yet exciting work of focusing the club for impact and measurable results for our future. Recommendations will be presented to the members in the spring.
Then we had Committee Stats presented by each chair.
