The Rotary Club of Washington, D.C. (through it’s wonderful Foundation, the Rotary Foundation of Washington, D.C.) along with our District and the Rotary clubs of Capitol Hill and Metro Bethesda are pleased to announce the sponsorship of two Columbia Heights Educational Campus students to the Rotary Youth Exchange Program in the 2020-2021 academic school year.
The students were selected by DC Rotary Club Youth Exchange Program Co-Chairs, Marilyn Nevy Cruz and Casey Sacks. Andrea Bonilla and Stephane Mankemi underwent a rigorous district interview process on Saturday, November 2nd and were selected as one of the 8 out of 10 Rotary District 7620 Ambassadors the weekend of November 9-10, 2019. On the weekend of November 9th, they attended an extensive compatibility training in York, Pennsylvania and selected their top country choices.
Andrea and Stephane visited our Club meeting on November 27th and shared their experience on the program process thus far.
Andrea’s top three country choices are: Thailand, Denmark and Germany; and
Stephane’s top three country choices are: The Netherlands, Brazil and Italy.
Andrea and Stephane have successfully completed and submitted their 25 page application and on January 19, 2020 they will find out what country they will be placed in for the 2020-2021 academic year.
