Meeting in Review, September 1, 2021

This week the Rotary Club of Washington, D.C. welcomed guest speakers Dr. Cliff Strawitch & Jeff Turner of the Citizens Climate Lobby.

The Zoom meeting was opened at 12:15 PM for member fellowship.

President Bill Dent welcomed participants, guests, and visiting Rotarians.

Sergeant-at-Arms Sterling Hoffman presented the Four-Way Test and weekly inspiration. He recognized birthdays and anniversaries for the week.

Arrel Olano presented a Member Moment.

Marilyn Nevy Cruz inducted new members.

  • Alexander Tu briefed about the September 15th Fireside Chat at the home of Max Salas.
  • Mary Goldsmith spoke regarding the September 22nd social at home of Jill Kent.
  • May O’Brien spoke about the ISC kick-off.
  • Maria Nelly Pavisich gave an update on Haiti.
Steve Liston introduced this week's guest speakers, Dr. Cliff Strawitch & Jeff Turner, Citizens Climate Lobby.

Dr. Cliff Strawitch is a retired Engineering Physicist who worked for aerospace companies including as TRW and Northrop Grumman during his career, doing airborne radar design and satellite design (among other things). Cliff has been active in Citizens Climate Lobby for 4 years, and is the CCL liaison to Senator Chris Van Hollen’s office.

Jeff Turner was Director of Marketing for three companies in three different industries, before finishing his career as Director of Marketing for the U.S. Government Publishing Office in Washington, DC. Jeff is a member of Rotary Club of Columbia Town Center, the Environmental Sustainability Rotarian Action Group (ESRAG), the Sierra Club, and has been a Citizens Climate Lobby member for 1-1/2 years.
