Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (“RYLA”) is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts where high school students develop skills as a leader while having fun and making connections.
What are the benefits for students?
Connect with leaders in their community and around the world to:
- Build communication and problem-solving skills
- Discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader in their school or community
- Learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors
- Unlock their potential to turn motivation into action; and
- Have fun and form lasting friendships
Our district’s RYLA will be held on President’s Day weekend, February 15-17, 2020.
Our very own DC Rotary Club Rotarian, Marilyn Nevy Cruz was appointed by the Rotary 7620 District Governor, Barton Goldenberg to serve as the District’s RYLA Chair this year.
Marilyn and her team have developed a new and revamped RYLA program and returned RYLA to it’s original location, the YMCA Camp Letts in Edgewater, Maryland.
In addition, our very own DC Rotary Club Rotarian, Casey Sacks is serving as the district RYLA’s committee Program Development Chair. We are so fortunate to have Rotarians like Casey and Marilyn in our Club!
This year, our DC Rotary Club through it’s wonderful Foundation, the Rotary Foundation of Washington, D.C. is sponsoring a total of thirteen (13) students to attend RYLA. More than any other Club in the district!
If you would like to participate, carpool students, or overall just hang out at the RYLA camp this year, please contact District 7620 RYLA Chair, Marilyn Nevy Cruz at mncruz10@gmail.com.
